Dr. Arneson is Associate Professor in the Department of Communication & Rhetorical Studies where she serves as a doctoral faculty member, Director of the Communication Ethics Center in the Department of Communicaiton & Rhetorical Studies, and Director of the M.A. Program.
Dr. Arneson's work examines issues of human communication from philosophical perspectives. Her research interests include philosophy of communication, free and responsible speech, interpretive approaches to research, organizational communication, interpersonal communication ethics, and educational assessment.
She is co-author (with Ronald C. Arnett) of Dialogic Civility in a Cynical Age: Community, Hope, and Interpersonal Relationships (SUNY 1999) and has published over 25 book chapters, journal articles, or research reports. Her work appears in Integrative Explorations: Journal of Culture and Consciousness, Women's Studies in Communication, Communication Studies, The Electronic Journal of Communication/La Revue Electronique de Communication, and Journal of the Association for Communication Administration.
Dr. Arneson serves on several editorial boards for professional journals. She received the Pennsylvania Communication Association Harvey Kelly Excellence in Teaching Award, was named an Outstanding Faculty Mentor and twice honored as University Professor of the Year at University of Northern Colorado, and was recognized as an Outstanding Teacher in the College of Arts & Sciences at Bowling Green State University. She is a trained mediator and organizational consultant.
